New Illustration In The Works…
I am just starting this drawing depicting Rowan riding through Pellaris. It is from a scene in Book One, The Messenger From Myis Dar, in which Rowan rides for the first time through the northern city of Pellaris. It is a weighty moment because she has been traveling for a long time and has endured great hardship to get to this destination and finally relay the message she has been charged with delivering.
I have a lot yet to do, but wanted to share it at this early stage.
There is something magical about the emerging drawing on the toned paper...
It comes with a lovely feeling of promise for the potential the drawing holds. Sometimes it is realized, sometimes not, yet as the light and dark strokes get layered at this early stage, I often feel that excitement of expectation.
